To register a BlackBerry 10 smartphone with the wireless network, complete the steps below for the specific version of device software.
BlackBerry 10 OS
Complete the following steps:
- Swipe down from the top of the home screen and tap Settings.
- Tap About.
- Tap the Category drop-down menu and choose Network.
- Tap the More button (3 vertical dots) at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Register BlackBerry.
BlackBerry OS version 7.1 and earlier
Complete the following steps:
Note: The location of the Options screen depends on the version of device software and whether a theme is being used running on the smartphone.
- On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options, or click Settings > Options.
- Complete the step for the specific version of device software:
- For BlackBerry OS 6.0 to 7.1, select:
Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing Table - For BlackBerry Device Software 4.1 to 5.0, select:
Advanced Options > Host Routing Table
- For BlackBerry OS 6.0 to 7.1, select:
- Press the Menu key and select Register Now.
A BlackBerry Registration message should appear in the Messages folder when the device registers.

A registration is completed when any of the following actions has occurred:
- A manual registration attempt has been completed following the steps listed above.
- The smartphone powers on for the first time after a software reload.
